Oh dear, this is what happens when me and
redorchids drink wine together: we laugh a lot and then write cracky Harry Potter fic. Check it out on AO3: Pin Me Up.
Yay!
Yay!
So, I don't really know how this happened, but apparently I wrote First Class fic! That was not what I was planning to work on when I left for the Easter weekend, but what can I say, this fandom appears to have grabbed me by the throat. :)
Title: Finding the Future
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 4900
Characters: Hank McCoy/Alex Summers, Charles Xavier, Moira McTaggert, Sean Cassidy
Summary: The time after Cuba is an uphill battle. There's so much to get used to—the people that are there and the people that aren't any longer, and a future that has changed for all of them.
Notes: Also found here on AO3.
( Hank considers baring his teeth—that works for Moira and Charles, anyway, and even Sean has a tendency to shut up if Hank looks fierce enough—but Alex has proved annoyingly immune to all kinds of intimidation so far. )

Game of Thrones is back! I'm so happy! Can't wait for... well, everything!
That is all. Carry on. (Or, come flail with me in the comments!)

OK, everyone needs to read this:
If You Liked the Book, You'll Hate the Movie by paperclipbitch (on AO3).
Official summary: It’s not until Hank realises half the class are glancing towards the back of the classroom with something like nerves and something like schadenfreude that he finds out Alex Summers is back.
Modern day high school AU, X-men First Class, where Hank McCoy and Emma Frost are best friends, Raven is the transfer student with the weird older brother/surrogate parent Charles, and Erik is the school guidance councellor (yes, really).
I don't really know how to describe this fic except I laughed and cried. I've been walking around ever since with this fic under my skin, occasionally remembering phrases or just the feel of it, and just reread it again. There are several different POV:s, all of which are beautifully realised, and the characterisations are quite heartbreaking and wonderful.
Seriously, just go read it.
In other news, I recently watched The Skin I Live In, which was extremely weird. That Almodóvar, he never disappoints.

Everyone should watch this: Cat's in the Cradle video by
daasgrrl. It's a little bit frightening and a whole lot awesome.
House/Holmes crossover, spoilers for about everything ever (see vidder's notes for more specific details), but if that doesn't bother you, GO AHEAD.

Well, I didn't think it was possible -- but congratulations, Mr Shue. You have officially OUTDOUCHED yourself. How anyone hasn't punched you yet is BEYOND ME.
Screw you, you selfish, tactless, incredibly-lacking-in-judgement piece of shit.

Back from my holiday, kind of tanned and very rested and happy, although I wouldn't say no to perhaps another week of free time to write -- because I'm writing! Not what I thought I'd be writing over my holidays, which is the Brendon/Spencer sort of vampire fic, but the Hogwarts AU -- which has been stuck in the no-write zone for ever, so that's good! \o/! Right?
I'm not really hitting my stride on that yet, but I'm at least getting some words down.
Also, for this I do research. (Seriously serious research, like rereading Goblet of Fire.) One thing I haven't managed to get straight though, is Spencer's dad's name. I've read some that say Michael, and some that say Jeff. Anyone know for sure? (
intricate_life, I'm looking at you.)
In other news, I finally watched Sherlock, since I was away while the last episode went down. I don't have much to say about it, except ( not really spoilers, but to be sure. )
